Business Unit Array Report

The Business Unit Array Report provides a complete listing of all arrays and the associated business units with the amount of space allocated and total usable. The percentage of array shows a color-coded bar based on whether the array is thick or thin provisioned. In either case, if the array is well below the threshold, the bar will appear in green. As the array runs low on space the bar turns yellow. Arrays over 90% full are rendered with red bars. If it’s over 100%, which is only possible with thin provisioning, we draw a dark blue bar.

The compressed savings field displays in blue text to remind you it is separate from the utilization numbers in the other columns. It’s nice to be able to see what your compression savings are when reviewing the arrays, but it’s not necessarily part of the normal thought process for this screen.

Field	What It Means
Array Name	The name of the array
BU Name	The name of the business unit associated with the array
Total Array Used	How much total space on the array is used
Mapped Storage	Total storage mapped to the business unit
Total Array Usable	The total space that is usable on the array. It’s the raw space minus overhead.
Compressed Savings	The amount of space you’re saving based on your array’s reported compression ratio. This data is presented in blue text to remind you it isn’t a capacity number, per se.
% of Array	The percentage of the array in use.
Price per GiB	Price per gigabyte paid for the array
Total Cost	Total cost of storage used. (Total Array Used X Price per GiB)

While the Business Unit Array Report (above) gives you everything, these next few reports are quick break-downs the same data that focus on one factor. This makes for easier analysis on those areas that need the most attention.

Business Unit Summary by Array

This is the Business Unit Array Report data focused on arrays.

Field	What It Means
Array	The name of the array
BU Name	The name of the business unit associated with the array
Total Used	How much total space on the array is used
Mapped Storage	Total storage mapped to the business unit
Total Array Usable	The total space that is usable on the array. It’s the raw space minus overhead.
% of Array	The percentage of the array in use.

Array Summary by Business Unit

This report gives you a breakdown of array date related to business unit. The arrays are represented as the bar elements in the legend with the business units displayed on the y-axis and the used space on the x-axis. The total used space for that business unit’s used storage cost is displayed at the end of the bar. Like any other report in VSI, you can hover your mouse over any part of the bar and focus just on that part of the data.

This report allows you to analyze your costs related to used space on various arrays assigned to a business unit. The arrays are represented as the bar elements in the legend with the business units displayed on the y-axis and the monetary cost on the x-axis. The total cost for that business unit’s used storage cost is displayed at the end of the bar. Like any other report in VSI, you can hover your mouse over any part of the bar and focus just on that part of the data.

Unmapped Arrays

This report provides a tabular list of your unmapped storage.

Field	What It Means
Array Name	The name of the array
Total Array Used	How much total space on the array is used
Mapped Storage	Total storage mapped to the business unit
Total Array Usable	The total space that is usable on the array. It’s the raw space minus overhead.
% Used	The percentage of the array in use.

Undefined Hosts / Volumes

This report gives a tabular list of undefined hosts and volumes.

Field	What It Means
Array Name	The name of the array
Volume	The volume name on the array
Total Array Used	How much total space on the array is used
Mapped Storage	Total storage mapped to the business unit
Total Array Free	The total free space that is on the array. It’s the raw space minus overhead.
