Visual Storage Intelligence 5 User Documentation

Welcome to the Visual Storage Intelligence (VSI) User Documentation. We ❤ our users, and we’re glad you’re here!

VSI is a storage reporting solution designed to give you deep insight into your IT environment. We aim to be far easier than building and maintaining your own spreadsheets for reporting, and much easier to use than a traditional storage resource management system (SRM). This user guide is designed to help you navigate the application.

Besides being the user documentation for VSI, this page is used to notify our users of current system status, maintenance windows or outages. It is not hosted on the same infrastructure as our main applications.

If you’re new to VSI, we suggest you begin with our Getting Started page. If there’s something specific you’re looking for, explore the links on the left edge of the screen, or use the handy search feature near the top of the screen. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, help is just an email away!

If you look at the top of this screen 👆, there is an area dedicated to communicating our system status. We’re proud of our up-time, but when something goes sideways on our end, we put the status, problem descriptions, etc. up there so you can tell if we’re experiencing any known issues with up-time or performance. In the event of an actual outage, we’ll also use this space to tell you when we’ll be back up.

Like in the movie classic War Games, we use the US DoD DEFCON alert designations for readiness with one exception. We never drop below DEFCON 4 which is designated as Increased intelligence watch and strengthened security measures. We feel like this is a statement of what we strive for every day at VSI and so it is our normal state.
